What’s New?

PA180332

Yarn Circle has some awesome new sock yarn that’s self stripping. Come in and see our wide assortment of Regia colorways and get started on a pair of toasty socks for this winter.

Have you been drooling over the leather needle case that you’ve seen Martha toting her needles and notions in? Well, now you can have one of your very own. Check out our new all leather, double pouch needle cases that are perfect for keeping all your smaller tools organized and handy. These cases come in a variety of colors and are made by a local Asheville leather worker.

The Right Tool For The Job

Yarn Circle has lots of hard-to-find tools to make you fiber projects happen more easily and finish with better results. Just take a look at a few of our favorites.

Whenever anyone we know goes to the Shetland islands, we ask them to bring back a few of these Shetland Knitting belts. Acting as your third hand, these knitting belts are great for doing Fair Isle and colorwork knitting.

It may not look like much, but the McMorran Balance is one of the weaver’s most useful tools. This balance allows you to accurately estimate an unknown yarn’s yardage per pound. Simply place a small sample of the yarn on the arm and snip off small bits until the arm balances. Measure your length of yarn in inches, multiply by 100, and viola! - a functional estimate of the yarn’s yards per pound.

Jan09Sweaterstretcher

As Martha loves to say, no piece of knit work is finished until it has been washed. In some cases finishing also includes blocking the piece to your desired shape and size. This sweater stretcher is incredibly versatile in it’s size adjustments to allow you the greatest freedom in blocking your garments. It folds in half for easy storage when not in use too. This piece was made by local woodworker and timberframer, John Campbell.
